Imaginary FriendI sat on the plush rug, waiting patiently for Delilah. Everyday after school she would meet me in the treehouse to talk. She had purposefully picked a place that symbolized childhood. A treehouse forgotten when its own children had grown up. I worried quite a bit about my dear Delilah, she had a darkness following her precise and delicate movements. She tiptoed around the word, but I still knew. There was a reason she was stuck in her rather immature ways.
Right on time, exactly 3:17, I saw her charcoal hair peek around the make-shift curtain. "Brandon!" I love the way she smiled at me as if we didn't see each other every day. She knew I'd be there, but she still acted surprised every time.
"Hello Delilah, how was your day?" I smiled encouragingly. She slowly sat crosslegged next to me, her overflowing backpack placed carefully onto my lap.
"I'm okay. Today was a good day. I'd rather talk about you, Brandon. Can I hear about your day instead?"
This was to be expected.
Planetary ProblemsIt was impossible to wash the stink of pollution off her surface, but she tried every date night. Earth was waiting on Pluto to arrive for dinner and a movie. She was always late because she insisted on living in the middle of nowhere. None of the other planets approved of their relationship, seeing as Earth's inhabitants had removed Pluto from their planet list. Earth chuckled, accidentally creating an earthquake that destroyed a small island. They had no idea there were twenty nine official planets, Pluto included.
Pluto arrived, giving her a quick kiss that gave the American midwest a mid-summers freeze. "Ready?"
"Of course. I thought we could watch the polar bears tonight, I feel rather sorry for them." Earth said.
"Of course, I just... I thought we could talk about it first."
Earth sighed, sending an avalanche down onto some unlucky climbers. "Do we have to?"
"I want you to be my universe partner. I want dozens of little moons with you. I love you." Pluto s

Chunky Mushroom Brew
Start with a simple mixture of water, toad broth, and dolphin tears. Stir until the liquid changes from pale green to pale aqua. Next add two cups of enchanted mermaid scales. I use shimmering pink scales, but blue or red will work as well. (Tip: Avoid using the white scales for guests, they will melt their esophaguses!) Once the scales have dissolved, add thr
Two Are OneAs far back as he could remember, there had been two voices in his head. One was his own, his conscious, his inner thoughts. The other belonged to someone else.
In his earliest memory of the other voice, he was sitting in his playroom, surrounded by colorful blocks. He was wearing overalls and a teddy bear T-shirt. The baby sitter was laying on the couch, giggling girlishly into the phone, simultaneously twirling her hair and the phone cord. “No, Mommy! Stop it, Mommy!” When he looked around, he couldn’t locate the screaming. But it bounced around his skull, pleading for help. Confused, he pounced on the sitter, sobbing and yelling. “Help her! Help her! Make it stop!” His parents were concerned, but the doctors said he simply had trouble distinguishing reality and make-believe.
Throughout his childhood, he would hear it. Sometimes it was praying. It cried often. He could hear it playing dolls and chasing imaginary creatures through the p
